Associate Director of Strategy

You’re a killer problem solver and idea generator. You care equally about creating amazing work as you do growing junior strategists. You are curious, proactive, and excited to lead an ever-evolving team.

You are a strategic partner to your clients—able to intimately understand their business, and set the strategic vision and roadmap for their brand. You are equally adept at seeing the larger picture and what really matters, as you are getting granular while leading a project from brief to execution. You nimbly adapt your approach based on the ask, pulling from experience and the toolkit you’ve assembled over the years. You are hungry for information and must be able to craft it into a strong perspective that drives brilliant concepts. You are constantly pushing the quality of your work—and the work of others around you.

You love the thrill of the pitch and are driven to lead teams of strategists, designers, writers, developers and producers toward victory. Understanding that a great idea is worth nothing if the client doesn’t understand and get behind it, you build presentations that are as good as the ideas themselves. What’s more, you are a pro when you bring these presentations to life in a room full of high-level clients.

You are a champion of mentorship—from actively teaching learned skills, to modeling the intangibles and simply being there for others. In your spare time, you think about ways to make the team and the agency better. You are always anticipating what should be done next, and forever learning along the way.

Key Duties


  • Help manage a team of talented and developing strategists and analysts—delegate, guide and produce high quality outputs across research, insight development, creative ideation, and presentation.
  • Be the strategic lead on larger program relationships—understand the business situation and challenges, set the strategic vision, and proactively surface opportunities.
  • Be an active lead in pitches—from initial handshake to the big idea to the final presentation.
  • Work with Team Leads across departments to set project process and requirements for success.
  • Proficiency creating rich user interfaces and animations.
  • Be a partner, a coach and support system to creative teams—craft inspiring briefs, lead brainstorms and ensure the team is on track and on brief, without stifling creativity.
  • Be a mentor and a mentee, both to fellow strategists and others within the agency.

Must Have


  • 4-6 years of Account/Brand Planning or Digital Strategy experience
  • 2+ years experience managing others
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Digital prowess: on the forefront of the latest technology and digital landscape, including mobile, social and media – and everything in between
  • Cultural curiosity: tapped into what’s going on, what people are doing, liking, joining, sharing—and more importantly, why
  • Experience in research, insight development, user experience planning, content strategy, social media strategy, mobile, web or social analytics/reporting
  • Experience with various qualitative and quantitative research methods and platforms (e.g., MTurk, Radian6, Google Analytics, Simmons/MRI, Reddit, Facebook Insights)
